Julia Malynka
Student Therapist
Many people don’t realize that much of how they think, feel, and act is shaped by underlying patterns. learned responses, attachment dynamics, and internal beliefs formed over time. These patterns develop through life experiences and become embedded in how a person perceives themselves, others, and the world. They influence how individuals show up in relationships, respond to stress, make decisions, and interpret situations, often outside of conscious awareness. As a result, people may feel stuck in repeating cycles, confused by their own reactions or choices, or frustrated that things aren’t changing despite their efforts, without recognizing the deeper internal structures driving these experiences.
I approach therapy with the understanding that each person is unique and there is no one-size-fits-all method. My focus is on collaboratively finding an approach that aligns with each client’s needs, preferences, and goals. I draw from an integrative, eclectic framework, tailoring the work to support meaningful and sustainable change. My practice is grounded in a client-centered approach, where creating a space of warmth, acceptance, and non-judgment is essential. I value the therapeutic relationship as the foundation of the work, as feeling understood and supported often allows for deeper exploration and growth. I aim to meet clients where they are, with genuine curiosity and respect for the complexity of their experiences. In my work, I incorporate elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients develop psychological flexibility and relate differently to their thoughts and emotions, rather than feeling controlled by them. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to support clients in identifying and shifting unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviors, and from experiential approaches to help clients connect more deeply with their emotions and internal experiences in the present moment. I also integrate mindfulness-based practices to strengthen awareness, regulation, and the ability to observe internal experiences with greater clarity and less reactivity.
Through our work together, my goal is that you begin to feel more connected to yourself, more clear, more grounded, and more confident in how you move through your life. As we make sense of the patterns that have been shaping your experiences, things often start to feel less confusing and more within your reach to change. I strive to create a space where you feel genuinely seen, heard, and supported. From there, we work together to build a way forward that feels right for you—one that reflects your values, your needs, and the life you want to create.
Experience
Julia is a Master’s-level Counselling Psychology student currently completing her practicum, with a professional background in mental health and rehabilitation. Prior to entering clinical practice, Iuliia worked as a Mental Health Rehabilitation Consultant, supporting individuals on disability leave due to psychological conditions. In this role she worked closely with clients navigating anxiety, depression, burnout, and complex life stressors, helping them rebuild stability, strengthen coping capacity, and gradually return to functioning in their daily lives. This experience has given Julia a strong understanding of how mental health challenges impact not only emotional well-being, but also identity, motivation, and a person’s ability to engage with work, relationships, and life overall. It has also shaped Julia’s ability to balance empathy with structure by supporting clients in feeling understood while also working toward clear, meaningful goals.
